GBC has been around since 1939, and in our current location since 1971. Many before us have sacrificed and labored to provide us with the facilities we enjoy. In 2017 we started the Grace Initiative as a call to action.
The Grace Initiative has 3 components: Give, Grow, and Go!
1. We want to give generously (finances, time, and abilities) because of God’s grace to us. To set an example of generosity, we set aside 10% of all funds raised through Grace Initiative giving to fund a ministry focused on adoption and foster care.
2. In 2017-18 we spent significant time and money (from Grace Initiative giving) to renovate and expand our facility. As we continue to grow together, we will continue to make improvements to our facility as the Lord leads.
3. We are called to go to the ends of the earth! We are praying about where and how to plant churches both in our region and around the world through our various mission partners.
We don’t know the details of how God is going to accomplish all of this, but we believe He is asking us to take the first step. Thank you for serving with us faithfully. We look forward to seeing how God will work in the coming years through His church!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is giving to Grace Initiative different from general giving to the church?
A: Giving to the Grace Initiative is set aside for two purposes: 10% to fund our Grafted Ministry, a ministry to support adoption and foster care, and 90% to renovate, improve and expand our physical facilities.
Q: How can I give to the Grace Initiative? On-line? Check? Stock transfer?
A: If you give online you will see a box for “Grace Initiative.” Enter the amount of your gift in that box and then continue as normal. If you give via offering envelopes or by check, please indicate “Grace Initiative” on the envelope so the amount you are designating will be recorded properly by the financial office. Also, write Grace Initiative in the memo line of your check. For Stock gifts, see the instructions on the Give page.
Q: Is my giving to Grace Initiative tax deductible?
A: Yes! Your Grace Initiative gifts will be included in your annual, year-end giving statement. These funds are tax-deductible, just like your normal giving to GBC.
Q: Regarding the ‘Go’ part of the Grace Initiative, how does facility renovation/expansion support our strategies to reach our community and the world?
A: First, we want the gospel to remain central in everything we do as a church family – whether we are ministering in our facility, in our local communities, or around the world through our missionary partners. By updating and expanding our church building, we will be able to more effectively reach the men, women, boys and girls who attend the various activities at GBC each week. As the church body continues to grow, we are praying that the gospel will expand beyond our walls through our involvement in the community, planting churches, and supporting/sending missionaries to the uttermost parts of the earth.
