Short Term Mission Trips

Did you know there are thousands of international students attending the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University? Most of these students will never be invited into the home of an American family during their stay in the United States!

At Grace Bible Church, we are challenging our members to “Get to Know One” of these international students as a Friendship Partner by having dinner with them, finding out about their home country and family, and establishing an intentional relationship. We hope that through some simple hospitality, we can show the love of Christ to students who are often confused, alone, and overwhelmed by culture shock as they begin their studies at our local universities.

An easy way to start is by attending a “Friendship Night” at the University Christian Reformed Church on 1717 Broadway. International students come there every Friday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in order to meet Americans and learn about our culture. There is even a “Kids Club” so you can bring your kids and they can enjoy playing and learning together! “Friendship Nights” are sponsored by International Students Incorporated (ISI). You can learn more about ISI by contacting Larry Champoux at 677-7007, or going to the ISI Website for Ann Arbor.

Short Term Missions Opportunity: Openings are available for tutoring international students in conversational English on Mondays from 7:30-8:45 p.m. on the University of Michigan’s North Campus in partnership with the International Students Fellowship. All materials will be provided. Contact Rhonda Foxworth if you are interested in volunteering or participating.
